Writing Series: (Manga) Sulat Sa Pader*/ Writing on the Wall is an exploration of the written word. An adaptation of Barrios' concurrent series, Lost Language of Writing, Writing Series is inspired by the fragility of communication and the obsolescence of an individual's written mark. As technology imposes itself on our methods of personal exchange and communication, we find that the act and gesture of writing becoming obsolete. Through a text-based environment of video projections, ink on paper and graphite, Barrios attempts to remind us of the shift of expression that is occurring and the importance of maintaining the use of the written word.
