Cause & Effect
cause & effect (2008)
digital prints (14' x 10'), pins, mirror (4' x 5'), wood
What defines a woman? Does it matter? This installation addresses these questions and more. Formed in a grid, cause & effect is a visual landscape that maps 26 years of my body's response to my environments.
Through the use of image, text and mirrors the viewer is immersed in self-reflection. Reading text based on the statistics of fibroids and hysterectomy - the viewer delves deeper into the biological phenomena so common amongst American women.
